Re: Dead Man’s Hole

What a great outing, those are some slab redfish, congratulations and thanks for posting!

Maybe I’ll take a trip to Rockport/Aransas soon, truly a magical place, especially this time of year

Re: Galveston West Bay (North and South Shoreline)

I also forget to highlight just how good the Heddon Spook Boyo is. Coming in @3/8th ounces and 3 inches long, this bite sized topwater is perfect for a calm flat or spooky fish. My hookup ratio on this lure is amazing compared to something like a mirrolure shedog. I’m definitely keeping a few in my ...

Re: Galveston West Bay (North and South Shoreline)

The back side of a full moon is very very tough, especially on plastics. I just feel lucky to get that nice slot fish.

As far as Sportsman’s Road Launch… We have to collectively stand up to the city, this is not acceptable and we will not go down in silence. Let us know how we can help Don!

Re: Galveston south side jetty

I should add that if you fish this area to 100% wear your PFD. I would not recommend this area to a novice. There are much better, safer, and easier areas to fish in Galveston with a Kayak

Re: Galveston south side jetty

Sorry this is late but it may help for others down the road. The currents around the jetties can be no joke, your best bet to fish the south jetty is a light north or Southeast wind, preferably less than 10 mph for a few days leading into the trip. If you arrive early enough to East Beach you can av...

Galveston West Bay (North and South Shoreline)

My God what a brutal summer it’s been on the Texas Coast. High temperatures, no rain, and terrible winds have plagued us all summer long. But within the last month the rain has fallen periodically, seemingly on a daily basis, and has cooled even the hottest of the shallow flats. Below are 2 trips on...

Re: Sportsman Road Launch blocked!? What’s the deal

What about the argument that the City has taken away a resource from the public and needs to provide an equivalent alternate venue? This was essentially the argument GRTU used to gain Stakeholder status in GBRA for the rainbow trout fishery - the coldwater tailrace took away a warmwater fishery, an...

Re: Sportsman Road Launch blocked!? What’s the deal

I call bs as well about the gas theft.

I think we can all agree we need to protect our launches, I hope this can all be resolved. Sportsman road is a magical place that shouldn’t be restricted to those that own 1 of the 20 houses on the road. Whatever needs to be done count me in!

Re: Sportsman Road Launch blocked!? What’s the deal

I have confirmed with another home owner that has a house on Sportsman that the city is shutting it down. Supposedly the guy who owns a house right next to the ramp has been complaining for some time to the city that he keeps having gasoline stolen from his boat. Talk about utter bullshit. The guy k...

Sportsman Road Launch blocked!? What’s the deal

I drove down Sportsman yesterday only to see concrete barriers blocking the public launch in the middle of the road… Anyone know what’s going on there? We already lost one launch within the last 2 years that was at the end of 8 mile… I fear this launch is next. I’m frustrated to say the least… So I ...

Re: Florida Tarpon/Snook

Thanks for the detailed response Shoffer. I’ve had some other avid fisherman tell me that the Tampa Bay Area would be good for what I’m looking to achieve.

I’d definitely want to hire a guide in such a new place, especially so I don’t have to bring all my gear.

Thanks again

Florida Tarpon/Snook

What’s up TKF, I’m thinking about taking a trip to Florida for the infamous mullet run that happens in late September. The dream is to catch snook/tarpon from the beach. Do any of you fine gentlemen have previous experience doing such a thing? From the research I’ve done it looks like the Southern a...

Re: Corpus Christi Area - Aransas Pass Area - Living

I think you can make it work anywhere along the Texas Coast, some of the key questions are, what do you do for work? Do you have kids? What kind of lifestyle are you wanting? I live in Galveston and you can have completely different experiences living here depending on where you live on this island....

Great report as always Karst, you sure make them sandies look tasty. I think frying them whole is the way to go since they're so small to begin with. Maybe i'll try this next time, I normally never keep sandies bc it feels like a waste of a fish, but this method captuires the whole fish

Re: The dog days

Thanks for your enthusiastic nighttime report, Yak Boi. You get extra points for persistence which paid off with your solid 23" Trout. It's funny how the nighttime catch swings one year toward Redfish, but this year toward Speckled trout. Watson filed a 50+ Trout TKF report last week. Keep up ...

Good report! It’s been an interesting year for fishing. I honestly can’t say I’ve seen a better July on the middle coast for redfish. I know it can be relative, but the amount of redfish I’ve seen/caught is absolutely incredible. Also, the trout seem to be doing well too. I’ve kinda learned over th...

Hello my dear TKF Yakkers, it’s good to be back and posting a report for the community. I'll post a my 2 cents. I've owned a Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL for 2 years now and bought for $2300 NEW... Let me tell you, this thing is a tank. Best money I've ever spent. One huge plus about the old town drive system is that it's all self contained and has fewer moving parts than a Hobie drive. ...
