Re: Wife yelled at wrong yakker

I only WISH I could interest my wife in yakking or even fishing...but NOOOOOOOOOOO... it's too wet, too hot, too buggy or too cold. So, she plays bridge and I fish and yak... don't even think of mentioning camping. Her idea (and probably mine too) of camping is a Four Seasons Resort under some pine ...

I have Costas with progressive bi-focal lens. Big $$$, but the clearest sun glasses I've ever had on. Awesome.

Re: Tippet To Fly Knots

The loop knot mentioned or a clinch/improved clinch knot to attach flies to tippet. For saltwater flies, the loop knot or uni-loop know probably allows more fly action.

Re: Why the heck are stern lights so expensive?!

Maybe I missed it, but what do you do for the red/green bow light? TP&WD regs (and Coast Guard) specify a red/green bow light when on the water before sunrise and after sun down...?????

Acetone should cut the surface layer...you also might want to rough it up with some fine sand paper.

DARN...sorry I missed your silent message...the engine is a bit loud while I'm motoring up stream... and for some reason, I think the sandies are further up stream, which is NOT the case as you mentioned and other, whom I passed, mentioned on another forum..doah...

Will that RAP-370 holder also hold a Fly Rod? It looks like it will, but I really can't be sure...

Thanks.

Re: Marshall Creek Sand Bass Activity

Guess I should of just stopped and anchored...but yesterday was an exploration, learning experience. Trophy Club charged me a full $5, ...next time I'm gonna tell them it's a kayak...wonder if I'll get away with it? I got one heavy fish way up at the riffles, where there was some actual current. The...

Re: The initial voyage of the Chiquita Mokai...

I talked with a number of people way past the 377 bridge...I went a long ways past the junction where Denton Creek splits off. No one was really catching much. I followed a big Jon boat with 115 Merc, who was my guide up the creek. There was one guy about 100 yds past the bridge that did seem to hav...

Re: The initial voyage of the Chiquita Mokai...

Thanks...it was fun.

Top speed was 14.5mph...with average around 11-12 mph...idle about 3.5 mph. did 14.5 miles, trip total according to the GPS...would have been a brutal paddle with the gusty south winds of yesterday here in the DFW area.

Not sure what the sandies need to spawn...somewhere in the 60s, would be my guess, from previous years...with flow being important.

Re: Marshall Creek Sand Bass Activity

We had a little rain on Monday, but I don't think that will be enough to turn on the Sandies. I'll be venturing to Marshall/Denton Creek on Sunday AM to give it a go and try out my new boat. Hope it's less eventful than my first outing in my old Hobie Revolution!!! Should be, as I have a bit more ex...

Re: Fishfinder for the 'yak

How flat does the floor of the Yak have to be for the finder to function correctly? My new boat has a gentle Vee all along the bottom. The flat surfaces on either side of the Vee will force the transducer to be about 5 degrees off of a flat install. Will this mess up depths because it might be shoot...

I always mark my launching spot on my handheld Garmin GPS (waterproof), so I can get back. If I went out at night (and I don't), I'd carry extra batteries, lights, etc. The individual obviously did not understand the potential for problems he was facing...maybe it's just me...but I am always careful...

Phill, Some more comments from a former Hobie owner and still supporter of the Mirage Drive. It's awesome. Period. not much better. But there are some drawbacks. In REAL shallow water, like Brown and Root Flats on Aransas, at low tide, some times even the flutter kick doesn't work..you will have to ...

Not a pipe dream as I am ordering one tomorrow. Think Light House Lakes and getting TO the LightHouse in about 30 minutes (or less) instead of an hour+ of dedicated paddling (at least in my experience) or launching at Adolpho Park on the Arroyo Colorado, motoring the 3 miles out to the Lower Laguna ...
